Council Description
The SEMI Region II Citizen Corps Council supports efforts to engage citizens in all hazards prevention, protection, response and recovery while improving our capability as a region. The council represents a multitude of citizen corps programs from the regional partners in the six counties of Macomb, St. Clair, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, Wayne and City of Detroit. The council is made up of representatives of both governmental and nongovernmental individuals from each of the six (6) counties and the City of Detroit. The Federal and State criteria speak to funding ultimately being awarded to high risk jurisdictions. The SEMI Region II jurisdiction represents 47% of Michigan's population and an overwhelming majority of the critical infrastructure (utilities, roads, hospitals, communications, businesses, etc.). It is home to the largest and highest profile firms and events in the State of Michigan. This council is responsible for administering the funding as set forth by the Sate of Michigan Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division for the purposes of supporting Citizen Corps programs in the SEMI Region II area.
