Update on Ex-Im Bank Assistance to Clients Affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) instituted "automatic" relief provisions related to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. These relief provisions applied to those exporters and financial institutions located in those portions of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama that were declared federal disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a result of either Hurricane. Ex-Im Bank has been in contact with all exporters and financial institutions in the affected areas and has worked out arrangements with them based on their individual circumstances. Based on these discussions, it was determined that the automatic relief provisions deadlines could expire. However, Ex-Im Bank is committed to providing on-going assistance to exporters and financial institutions in these areas. Therefore, if any unforeseen situation resulting from these hurricanes should arise in the future, Ex-Im Bank stands ready to offer relief.
