GOV. RITTER ORDERS LOWERING OF FLAGS ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2008

 

Gov. Bill Ritter today ordered that both the United States flag and the Colorado state flag be lowered on all public buildings throughout Colorado on September 13, 2008, in honor of Staff Sgt. Kenneth Mayne, 29, of Arvada.

 

Sgt. Mayne died on September 4, 2008 in Baghdad in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Mayne grew up in Arvada where his mother and stepfather still reside. He graduated from Arvada West High School in 1997. His funeral will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
