Lori Schock, Acting Director of Office of Investor Education and Assistance, to Leave SEC

Washington, D.C., April 27, 2007 - The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that Lori Schock, Acting Director of the Office of Investor Education and Assistance (OIEA), will leave the agency. Her last day at the Commission will be today. Ms. Schock has accepted a position with the Center for Audit Quality in Washington, D.C., where she will become the Director of Outreach.

During her six years on the Commission's staff, Ms. Schock traveled nationwide to help provide investors with educational workshops and materials. She worked closely with other federal and state agencies as well as consumer groups and other organizations committed to financial literacy for Americans of every age and income.

SEC Chairman Christopher Cox said, "Lori has been a passionate advocate for the individual investor and has personally reached thousands of investors across the country. As Acting Director, her leadership guided OIEA through our first-ever Seniors Summit, our military outreach program, and our seniors outreach program. We will miss Lori's enthusiasm and her creative solutions, and we wish her well in her new position."

It has been an honor to work with Chairman Cox, the Commissioners and their predecessors on behalf of individual investors."

Prior to being named Acting Director of OIEA, Ms. Schock held the positions of Deputy Director and Special Counsel to the Director. She joined the agency in 2001 as a Staff Attorney. Ms. Schock received her Juris Doctorate and Master's of Taxation from the University of Akron and her Bachelor of Arts from Furman University.
