The Dickson County Local Emergency Planning
Committee/Citizen Corps Council utilizes this event to put forth a very Âproactive effort to prepare the citizens
of Middle Tennessee to meet the challenges faced in emergency and disaster situations.
Interesting & Educational for adults and fun & educational for the kids!
Nearly 50 individual indoor information booths and displays, and an expansive adjacent outdoor display area featuring everything from helicopters, to fire & emergency vehicles, to an automobile rollover simulator, to Smokey the Bear's cabin.
The CEP Fair provides a "fair-type" relaxed atmosphere where the public:
Can view interesting emergency equipment up close and personal;
Can visit numerous information booths from the many agencies and organizations that are related to emergency preparedness and response; and
Is provided educational materials, more knowledge, and a plan to better prepare themselves and their families in the case of an emergency.
There are always a lot of nice door prizes awarded the day of the event.
The timing of this yearÂs event has been moved to September to coincide with National Preparedness Month. Per the
PresidentÂs proclamation, ÂNational Preparedness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of
emergency preparedness and to encourage all Americans to better prepare their homes and communities for emergencies. This description mirrors the theme of our event.
