Jobs
Overseas Opportunities/ Contracting Officers

The Short-Term Assistance Unit (STAU) provides trainers for Pre-Service Trainings when requested by a Peace Corps overseas post. To identify trainers, the STAU maintains a database of potential short-term contractors and actively recruits new candidates. In addition to sending contractors overseas, the STAU assists Headquarter offices in need of qualified short-term contractors for other positions such as workshops, in-service trainings, and program evaluations.

How to Apply
Bio Data Sheet (RTF)

If you are interested in short-term training positions, remember that most Peace Corps field offices hire training staff locally. In the event a post is not able to identify qualified trainers, the STAU helps to identify and hire these United States Personal Service Contractors (USPSCs) through our short-term contractor database.

USPSC Positions

Typical contract positions include:

  • Pre-Service Training Directors
  • Pre-Service Training Technical Trainers/Coordinators
  • ACTFL Certified Tester Trainers

Other contract positions requested may include:

  • Workshop Facilitators
  • Organizational Development Specialists
  • Curriculum Development Specialists
  • Instructional System Designers
  • Technology Training Specialists
  • Writers/Editors for Materials Development
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists

USPSCs serve overseas and are compensated with a daily rate based on the candidate's relevant salary history and work experience in conjunction with the established compensation range for the position. Additionally, insurance, immunizations, travel, and a small per diem are usually provided. Should your skills match those required for an upcoming consultancy, you will be contacted by the STAU to verify your availability for and interest in the position. We begin our initial screening at least four to five months prior to a contract start date as the process of screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates runs from a minimum of three months to over six months.
