Homicide victimization, 1950-2005

For homicides, the rate per 100,000 population began at 4.6 in 1950 and fell to 4.4 in 1951. After 1951, the rate climbed, reaching 4.6 in 1952, before decreasing to a low of 4.0 in 1957. Then it increased to 10.2 in 1980, before decreasing to 5.5 in 2000. After 2000, the rate increased, reaching 5.7 in 2003, before decreasing to 5.5 in 2004. Then it increased to 5.6 in 2005.
