Program Abstract: This Webcast will celebrate and examine the courage, shared behaviors, needs and values of people striving to overcome substance use disorders. In addition, we will identify the barriers that people with substance use disorders face in seeking treatment and support to overcome their addictions. This Webcast will highlight what communities can do to support and encourage individuals with substance use disorders as they begin the recovery process and as they reclaim their lives.

"Alcohol and Drug Use and the Cultures of Addiction" and "The Cultures of Recovery" are a two-part series that explores the social bonds, values, and behaviors that are common among those with substance use disorders and the transformation of those bonds, values, and behaviors as the subsequently travel the road to recovery. We encourage you to view both Webcasts and participate in both Webchats to learn about the important social and environmental changes that commonly accompany treatment and the recovery process.
