Research interests

  • I am interested in blending observations, theory and numerical models towards improving our understanding and ability to simulate and predict the state of the ocean. Until recently, I worked primarily with the Modular Ocean Model, MOM4 and was a co-developer of the latest version in the more than 35 year lineage of this model. I am also a contributor to the Flexible Modeling System, FMS which serves as the backbone of the MOM4 infrastructure and allows us to couple to a variety of atmosphere, ice and land model components. The family of FMS models has been recently extended to include the GOLD layer model. Much of my present research is directed towards this model, although I still have active projects using MOM4.
