September 6 and 7, 2005
"Modeling and Understanding Climate Variations and Change,
and Advancing Climate Predictability for the Benefit of Society"

- The Symposium will be held on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 and WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 at the FRIEND CENTER, PRINCETON UNIVERSITY. The Banquet dinner will be held on SEPTEMBER 6 at the HYATT REGENCY in Princeton.
- The GFDL Symposium will consist of two 1/2-day events. The meeting will commence at noon on September 6 and last till 1.30 PM on September 7.

The Symposium is organized into three sessions:
Session 1 (Sept. 6 afternoon): State-of-the-art understanding and status of climate modeling, including the atmosphere, oceans and cryosphere, and prospects for the future.Session 2 (Sept. 7 morning): Climate variations and change, and modeling impacts due to natural and anthropogenic forcings.Session 3 (Sept. 7, late morning): Panel discussion focussed on critical issues to be addressed in order to perform reliable predictions of climate extending out to decadal and longer timescales, particularly with regards to the societal-relevant climate variables.
