Grants:

DOT grants are primarily for government and local organizations.

• Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century -- enacted June 9, 1998, as Public Law 105-178. TEA-21 authorizes the Federal surface transportation programs for highways, highway safety, and transit for the 6-year period 1998-2003.
• New Starts Program -- supports locally operated transit guideway capital investments from heavy to light rail, from commuter rail to bus rapid transit systems.
• One-stop access to Federal Transit Administration grant program information
• Airports Financial Assistance for Capital Development
• Grants to establish and operate University Transportation Centers throughout the U.S.
• Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant program
• Highway Safety Grants
• Pipeline Safety Grants

Loans:

• State Infrastructure Banks -- (SIBs) stretch both federal and state dollars to increase transportation infrastructure investment.
• Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) -- a federal credit program oriented toward large surface transportation projects of national significance.
• Financial Services to disadvantaged and woman-owned enterprises
• Maritime Guaranteed Loan Program
