Introduction

Welcome to the third module, Applying University Policies and Procedures. Now that you have completed Module 2, you should be able to explain the application of Federal regulations, state law, and University conflict of interest (COI) policies in a variety of disciplines and situations.

The purpose of this module is to help you identify the roles and expedite the process involved in disclosure, and to provide you with a review of potential conflicts of interest. It is your role to consistently interpret and apply appropriate policies and procedure guidelines to make decisions about disclosures and COI management plans that are presented to you.

In this module, you will obtain answers to basic questions about potential conflict of interest, such as:

• What roles and responsibilities does each person have in regard to COI?
• What happens after disclosure?
• What is the COI review process?
• What is the structure of the COI committee?
• What do I need to know about REPA Review and Approval criteria?

Throughout this module, you will complete various activities that present and reinforce information about these topics.
