GOV. RITTER MAKES APPOINTMENTS TO AUTISM, CIVIL RIGHTS AND PARKS BOARDS

 

Gov. Bill Ritter today announced appointments to several boards and commissions, including the Board of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, Civil Rights Commission and Autism Commission.

 

Board of Parks and Outdoor Recreation

 

James C. Pribyl of Boulder, for a term expiring June 30, 2012

Gary A. Butterworth of Colorado Springs, for a term expiring June 30, 2012

Laurie A. Mathews of Denver, for a term expiring June 30, 2012

 

Appointments to the five-member board are for four years and require Senate confirmation. The board is responsible for maintaining a system of state park and recreation areas, planning, and distributing available recreation funds on a matching basis to political subdivisions of the state.

 

Colorado Civil Rights Commission

 

Isaiah "Ike" Kelley Jr. of Denver, for a term expiring March 13, 2012

Diann L. Rice of Fruita, for a term expiring March 13, 2012

 

Appointments to the seven-member commission are for four years and require Senate confirmation. The Commission investigates complaints and conducts hearings concerning alleged discrimination in employment and other areas, and promotes good will and cooperation among different racial, religious and ethnic groups across the state.

Terms for the 24-member commission expire Oct. 1, 2009, and do not require Senate confirmation. The commission was created pursuant to Senate Bill 08-163 to examine gaps in services and devise a 10-year strategy to serve those with autism, their caretakers and their families.
