DRA Report to Congress

Section 5006 of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA), enacted February 8, 2006, directs the Secretary of HHS to develop a strategic and implementing plan concerning certain specialty hospital issues.   The DRA requires CMS to issue an interim report on the status of the strategic and implementing plan within three months and a final report within six months.  On March 8, 2006, we held a Special Open Door Forum about our proposed strategic and implementing plan.  For more information about the open door forum, use the navigation tool on the left side of this page.

In the "Downloads" section, below, we provide the Final Report to Congress including, within the appendices, the Interim Report and the Survey Instructions that were used for purposes of the Final Report. We also include a list of physician-owned specialty hospitals as an update (current as of November 1, 2006) to the list found in Appendix II, Table I of the Final Report.  Under "Related Links," we include the Fact Sheet and Press Release for the Final Report.
