Learning Network - EPSDT Services
The Early and Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) program is a Medicaid program for children up to the age of 21 through which health care problems are identified and treated early through:
- Regular medical, dental, vision, and hearing check-ups,
- Diagnosis of problems, and
- Treatment of problems discovered.
The goals of the EPSDT program are to keep children as healthy as possible by:
- Assuring that health concerns are diagnosed as early as possible,
- Assuring that treatment is provided before problems become complex, and
- Assuring that medically justified services are provided to treat or correct identified problems.
