About WATR

Initiated in October 2005, WATR is Wyoming's Assistive Technology project. WATR's aim is to increase access to and acquisition of assistive technology in the areas of education, employment, community living, and IT/telecommunications. History of WATR

The Assistive Technology Act of 1998, reauthorized in 2004, is a federal law that provides funding to programs which allow residents greater access to and acquisition of assistive technology. These programs are referred to as Tech Act Projects, and each state and US territory has such a program. WATR was designated as the official Tech Act Project for Wyoming by Governor Freudenthal in 2005.

What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology can be anything, bought or made, that helps to increase the functional capabilities and independence of people who face limitations in a given area of their lives.
