Welcome to Federal Transit Administration and Region 10. We are proud of the job being done by FTA and our Regional Office where excellent customer service is a top priority. The Region serves the Pacific Northwest area of the country and includes the States of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Organizationally, Region 10 consists of a Regional Office in Seattle, Washington. The total staff complement is 17 with two co-located Federal Highway Administration employees and one loaned staff member from Sound Transit.
In 2006, Region 10 provided $457,196,216 in federal funding, awarding 247 grants. This funding helped 56 grant recipients with transportation projects throughout the region. Region 10 manages 437 active projects that have federal funding amounting to approximately $ 2 billion. We are customer driven, so please feel free to contact us at any time. The Office is located at Madison and Marion Streets (east/west) and 1st and 2nd Avenues (north/south) in downtown Seattle. There are two Federal Buildings off of 1st Avenue. The Jackson Federal Building is the newer of the two, 35 stories high with a glass entrance and security guards. Note the building does not have an address visibly posted.
You will need a government photo ID such as a passport or state driver’s license to get in the building and are required to go through security screening similar to the airport.
Our offices are on the 31st floor. Use the center bank of elevators.
Traveling by Public Transportation –
Bus – Take any bus to downtown Seattle and ask the driver for the stop nearest to the Jackson Federal Building (between Madison and Marion Streets, with entrances on First or Second Avenues).
Ferry – Take the Washington State Ferry car/passenger ferry from Bremerton or Bainbridge Island or the passenger only ferry from Vashon Island to Seattle’s Colman Dock. Walk east from terminal over the Marion Street Pedestrian Bridge, under the Alaskan Way Viaduct/SR-99, 3 blocks to its end - at First Avenue. The Jackson Federal Building is the larger brick and concrete building on the northeast corner of 1st Avenue, across the street.
Train – Take Amtrak or Sound Transit Sounder Commuter train to Seattle’s King Street Station. Go upstairs at the station to Jackson Street and either walk about 7 blocks north along 2nd Avenue toward the center of downtown or catch a bus in the ride free area on Jackson (heading west) or 4th Avenue (heading north). The office is located between 1st and 2nd Avenues and Madison and Marion Streets.
From the Airport –
Express Public Bus - Take King County Metro bus # 194 express to Seattle (downtown) from the southwest end of the sidewalk at the baggage level. Coming into Seattle you will get off on 4th Avenue and walk downhill (west toward the water) to the Jackson Federal Building. Going to the airport, you catch the King County Metro bus #194 in front of the Jackson Federal Building on 2nd Avenue. The frequency is every half hour with an exact fare of either $2.00 in peak or $1.50 in off peak.
Gray Line Bus – Take the Gray Line bus non-stop to its first stop in Downtown Seattle, at the Madison Renaissance Hotel. Walk 4 blocks west down hill (toward the water) to the Jackson Federal Building, on Second Avenue. Frequency – every half hour, fare approximately $8.50.
Taxi/Limousine – Take a taxi or town car from the airport parking garage third floor to the Jackson Federal Office Building in Downtown Seattle. Frequency, On-Demand. Fare approximately $30 for taxi
Airport Shuttle – Arrange for a shared-ride shuttle van to on the baggage claim level of the airport. Fare about $20 per person.
Automobile - Traveling by Automobile: Drive to downtown Seattle via I-5 (either from the North or the South). Get off the freeway at the Union St. exit from the north. From the south, get off at the Seneca St. exit (left lane exit off main/middle roadway on freeway) or Madison St. exit (right lane exit off outside roadway). Proceed downhill (east toward the water) from the freeway and turn left on Second or First Avenues. Drive past the Jackson Federal Building and look for parking. The Federal building does not have public parking.
