Profile

Welcome to FTA and Region IV!  In Region IV, we are proud of providing excellent customer service, because customer service is always our number one priority.  Our grantees are our customers and they represent our most important concern.
Of the ten FTA Regions, Region IV is one of FTA’s largest .  See Areas Served, below.

The Southeast is a growing rapidly and suffers increasingly from congested roadways. For example, traffic congestion costs Metro Atlantans 101,169,000 person-hours of delay annually, equating to $2,021,000,000 in costs resulting from those delays.  Therefore, the demand for new or larger public transportation is continually increasing in the Southeast.  In FY 2006, Region IV awarded 373 grants totaling $943,951,944.  Because of our concentration on customer service the average complete and accurate grant application took Region IV only 22 calendar days from submission to award. In FY 2007, Region IV awarded 338 grants totaling $995,937,869 in an average of 24 calendar days from submission to award.

The funds provided by FTA grants to our Region IV customers helped hundreds of our grantees to build or improve transit systems throughout the Region.  We have 168 active grantees and manage over 1,000 active grants, which provide Federal funding amounting to more than $4.0 billion.  The Region IV office is located on Peachtree Street, in the heart of downtown Atlanta, GA. Our staff consists of 26 highly dedicated, motivated, and professional public servants.

In FY 2008 and beyond, we look forward to working together with our grantees to provide improved mobility options for the citizens of Region IV.
