President’s Volunteer Community Service Award
Make A Difference—Volunteer
The President’s Volunteer Community Service Program is a national program recognizing Americans who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service. The President Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of the President of the United States to recognize the best in the American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service, and civic participation.
The program recognizes and works with certifying agencies, such as non-profits, community and faith-based organizations,
businesses, schools and colleges, membership and trade associations, and Federal, State, and local
government agencies in order to foster and coordinate volunteerism. To earn an Award, individuals,
families, and groups must keep a record of volunteer activities and hours served. We encourage everyone
to register online to track your volunteer activities with the USA Freedom Corps Record of Service at
www.presidentialserviceawards.gov.
Special message concerning FRA and volunteerism from Agency Administrator Joseph H. Boardman
FRA employees, colleagues, friends, family, and neighbors there is work to be done. I challenge you to actively engage and participate in volunteerism. To be selfless and compassionate, to define your character, uplift humanity, and make a difference through your personal time, contributions, talents, efforts, and resources. Find the best way you can serve, whether it is through strengthening a community, mentoring a child, striking against illiteracy, feeding the hungry, fortifying the environment, or some other act of volunteerism. The key is to volunteer and to make a positive difference in the lives of others. You are encouraged to register, find volunteer opportunities, and track your volunteer hours through this site.

"The moral test of a society is how that society treats those who are in the dawn of life—the children; those who are in the twilight of life—the elderly; and those who are in the shadow of life—the sick, the needy and the handicapped." —Hubert Humphrey
