July 17-20, 2006
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

As hosts of the 4th International Aviation Training Symposium (IATS), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy and the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) are pleased to announce this year’s theme:

“Creating a Global Partnership through Safety, Capacity Building, and Training”

Imagine this setting: You’re in America’s heartland — the center of a booming economy; a business district in historic, downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; at the newly renovated Cox Business Services Convention Center and the beautiful, new Renaissance Hotel. And we’re expecting 350-500 delegates from around the world!

The 2006 IATS program will truly be a global event. Our goal is to advance global aviation systems through workforce development, training technologies and adaptability in the ever-changing policies and standards on international aviation safety. It is a forum to bring together director generals of civil aviation authorities, key representatives of aviation training institutes, universities, and industry leaders for learning, networking and partnership building.

Workshop presentations and plenary sessions will cover many of the challenges our industry faces. Senior officials from industry and government will focus on various issues of aviation safety, training management, funding, air traffic management, navigation, resource sharing partnerships, and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements for safety management system and English language standards. The exposition will feature the latest training technologies, equipment, products and services offered by various private companies and public organizations.

The 2006 IATS program will finish with an escorted tour of FAA’s Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center— a richly diverse campus representing three of the six lines of business in FAA. Plan to visit the FAA Academy, Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI), Aviation System Standards (AVN), and the Transportation Safety Institute (TSI).
