Deal Ends Teachers' Strike in Chicago Suburb, Mediator Credited
 
 
Release Date: 10/22/2007

District 2 students will return to school today after representatives from the teacher union and school board agreed on a three-year contract Sunday night.  The deal ended a teacher strike that started Oct. 12 and canceled six days of school for the district’s 1,600 students. Federal mediator Javier Ramirez was credited with helping to facilitate the negotiations.
