See the Site
Plan to see the twelve minute video Iron Works on the Saugus. This live action program will introduce you to the story of the Company of Undertakers of the Iron Works in New England who built the original iron works in the mid 1640s. Pick up a brochure and use the informative waysides to guide yourself through the reconstructed blast furnace, forge, rolling and slitting mill, and waterfront.

Museum Rehabilitation
Scaffolding, fencing, and caution tape are seen and the sound of hammers, saws, and drills are heard as the 1917 Museum building undergoes major restoration work. Sills have been replaced and walls and floors have been straightened to bring new life into this former chicken coop, turned, blacksmith shop, turned museum. New exhibits will be installed during the winter of 2006-2007.

Accessibility Project
This comprehensive effort will combine improved physical access and creative interpretive approaches to provide greater access to park resources for people with disabilities. Pathways will be replaced with wheelchair friendly material and ramps will improve access to buildings in the reconstructed industrial site. A large tactile model of the landscape and waterways of the original works will familiarize all visitors, including those with visual impairments, to the local area.

A new activity center will provide opportunities for virtual tours, interactive games, and accessible technologies designed to bring innovative approaches to the visitor's experience.

Museum exhibits will also be reconfigured and enhanced within the newly rehabilitated museum building. Also, an existing park building will be converted into a museum collections storage area and wheelchair-accessible office space.
