Thank you for your interest in Augusta Public Transit's (APT) Paratransit Van Service. This curb to curb van service is available to qualifying persons with permanent or temporary disabilities.

The paratransit service runs the same hours and places as the regular bus service. Fares start at $2.00 one way. You will be told the amount of your fare when your reservations are made and you must have the correct change.Reservations are required and must be called in by 4:00 p.m. the day before you wish to travel! Reservations for Monday must be made by 4:00 p.m. Friday. You may make reservations by calling the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Office at 821-1819.Please leave your reservation on the answering machine if no one is available to take your call. Give complete information when making reservations, to include: your name, date, time of pick up, return time and the full street address of your destination.

Request for wheelchair transportation must meet the following guidelines. Wheelchairs cannot exceed 30 inches in width and /or 48 inches in length measured two inches above the ground and cannot weigh more than 600 pounds when occupied. In the event that you change wheelchairs after the application process is complete you must contact t our office immediately.

If you are not able to ride by yourself, you MUST have an attendant with you. APT drivers will not come to your door to get you and will not escort you to your appointments. There is no charge for the attendant to ride with you if they are registered with the ADA office.

If you must cancel your ride, please do so at least two (2) hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in a suspension of service and/or being charged for the missed trips.

To qualify for paratransit services you must fill out an application. The first part is for the applicant and the second part is for a health care professional. Send both completed forms to the above address. All applicants must ensure they understand the Guidelines for riding with the ParaTransit Service.
