The Flaum Souksamlane In Loving Memory Foundation (ILMF) establishes programs to help children who have had one or both parents die. Embracing the opportunity to facilitate programs which help children, their caregivers and communities positively affect the future of grieving children, is the driving force behind our materials and programs.

ILMF Outreach Program produces and distributes literature and other materials (videos, games, etc) for use by children, adults and organizations to provide an understanding of, and assist children with, the grieving process. These materials are distributed to those in need through schools, hospitals, funeral homes, community centers, insurance agent’s offices, children’s organizations, and through the ILMF website. Since sensitivity, understanding and communication are vital, the Information Outreach materials for adults include tips on appropriate and helpful things to say and do when interacting with children who have had one or both parents die. New materials are continuously under development. [MATERIALS]

ILMF’s College Scholarship Program is designed to provide funds for children who have been orphaned due to the death of both parents before the child is 18 years of age, who were not left funds for higher education but are accepted to accredited institutions of higher education. Currently, we are raising funds to build the endowment to provide these scholarships. It is our goal, to have the appropriate amount of funds necessary to start accepting applications in 2010. ILMF's grant program will provide funds and resources to organizations
specifically helping children through the grieving process of a parent's
death. Our focus is to help start children's bereavement centers or programs
throughout the country, by providing the needed startup costs. It is our
goal, to have the appropriate amount of funds necessary to start accepting
applications in 2010.

Thoughts from children who have been there…

“I was in fear, because I didn’t know what was going to happen to my life.” [age 9]

I was angry because my whole life changed in two hours. And it changed in ways that I did not care for.” [age 11]
