On January 15, 2008, FAA established an Order temporarily limiting the number of scheduled operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). FAA issued this Order as a result of a persistent number of flights above capacity during the peak operating hours. Among other things, this Order will reduce the average length of delays and provide for a more efficient use of the nation's airspace. This Order takes effect at 6:00 a.m., Eastern Time, on March 30, 2008, and will expire at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time, on October 24, 2009.
