Significant developments at previous Partnerships conferences include the 1997 launch of  the government gateway Web site healthfinder^® by Vice President Gore and Health and Human Services' Secretary Shalala.  In 1998, Surgeon General Satcher unveiled new enhancements to the popular healthfinder^® site.

Developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, www.healthfinder.gov links to carefully selected information from U.S. government agencies, major nonprofit and private health organizations, state health departments and universities.

healthfinder^® has a 1,000 word index that makes searches easy and provides access to 4,000 resources from clearinghouses, databases, libraries, hotlines, and publications, as well as support groups and much more.  healthfinder^® has been prominently featured in virtually all major news media, has garnered over 25 national awards, and is used by 265,000 people each month and over 3 million people in 1998 alone.
