Employment data, full-time and part-time, for the Federal government are compiled by the Bureau of the
Census from data collected by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in two separate surveys. Data by governmental function are for October from 1992 to 1995, for March from 1997 to 2002, and
for December from 2003 to 2006. These data are based on the Monthly Report of Federal Civilian
Employment (Standard Form 113A). Data for Federal employment by state are for December 31 of each even
numbered year. [Note: The Federal Government data exclude information on calculated full-time equivalent
