The Commission met today and determined to continue its deliberations on Docket No. 98-14, Shipping Restrictions, Requirements and Practices of the People's Republic of China, at a meeting to be scheduled during August 2001. The Commission's formal announcement of that meeting will issue shortly. That notice will also announce that the Commission is taking up issues related to controlled carriers under section 9 of the Shipping of 1984, Petition No. P3-99, Petition of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company for a Partial Exemption from the Controlled Carrier Act, and Petition No. P2-00, Petition of China National Foreign Trade Transportation (Group) Corp. (Sinotrans) for Exemption from Section 9(c) of the Shipping Act of 1984, as well as Docket No. 01-01, The Impact of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 1998.
