EPIC X-Motif Point-and Click Interface - XEPIC

The XEPIC is X-motif based GUI that provides an easy access to the EPIC meta data files from desktop UNIX computers. By connecting to backend Ingres or mSQL database using Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) routines, the XEPIC retreives metadata of the data files, including the path and name of the data file, geographic range, depth range, time range, cruise ID, cast number, etc.

XEPIC Features:

Access EPIC in-situ meta data including Profile data and Time Series data managed by Ingres or mSQL database.
Auto-detect the availability of the meta data in the backend database.
Allow user to specify the search constraints including longitude, latitude, depth, time ranges and more.
connect to other EPIC GUI application, e.g. 4DEDIT and EPICEDIT.

This application is developed using C language with the Motif toolkit on Solaris machine. X-Designer, an interactive tool, is used for building prototyped GUIs.
