Human Dimensions of Harmful Algal Bloom Response
Recent development of a National HAB Plan (HARRNESS) coupled with legislation requiring interagency focus on harmful algal blooms (HABs) (Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia Research Control Act and Oceans and Human Health Act) provides an opportunity to better focus national commitments on protecting communities and public health.
Harmful Algal Research and Response: A Human Dimensions Strategy is a multi-agency plan for human dimensions research critical to reduce impacts of HABs. Published by the National HAB Office, the report grew out of a workshop sponsored by the Center for Sponsored Coastal Ocean Research.
