CCS: Visits
Please let us know your plans well in advance so we can make proper
arrangements. Visits by non-U.S. citizens can take 8 weeks for
approval.
The CCS is located at ORNL, which is in East Tennessee near the
intersection of interstates 40 and 75. The nearest major airport is
Knoxville's McGhee-Tyson (TYS). We are in the Computational Sciences
Building (5600) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
How to get here
The shortest route from the airport (TYS) to ORNL is to take I-140,
the "Pellissippi connector". If you are traveling between TYS and ORNL
during peak traffic, you may wish to take the scenic (and less
traveled) route through Lenoir City via highways 321 and 95. The
highway signage on all routes is usually sufficient for navigation
without maps, if you are traveling in daylight and good weather.
Distance between ORNL and airport is about
30 miles, or 40-minute drive.

Where to go first
Visitors must first go through the Bethel Valley portal. This
requires that a visit request had been previously entered, before the
guards will let you continue you on to the visitor center in building
5002. At the visitor center, visitors will be badged, and their badge
will allow them access to whatever buildings were specified on their
visit request. Then they can continue on to the CCS HPC.
