The Program
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) Division
of Finance (DOF) is looking for high-caliber, motivated students who
are majoring in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Business Management
and other related financial fields to gain invaluable work experience
through our internship program. A DOF internship is an ideal way for
students to kick-start their future careers.
The Division of Finance offers a wide range of competitive internships,
offering students the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge related to
their own professional and educational needs. Selected applicants will
be expected to perform a variety of duties such as routine accounting and
budgeting, office automation duties in producing/preparing a variety of
documents pertaining to financial functions, analyzing complex data reports,
compiling daily, monthly or quarterly tax payment documents, assisting
with testing of internal system enhancements, preparing reports or performing
other miscellaneous technical tasks in support of functions related to
the occupational area and program to which they are assigned.

All internships are within the Division of Finance and are available at
our location in Arlington, VA.
Candidates interested
in DOF internships may expect to begin as early as mid to late May.

Qualifications and
Requirements
DOF is looking for capable and self-motivated students,
who are comfortable working in a professional setting with significant
responsibility, possess a strong academic record, written and
oral communication skills and a functional knowledge of Microsoft
Outlook, Word and Excel. In addition, applicants should have
a sincere interest in the fields of accounting and finance.
We prefer interested candidates to carry a current GPA of 3.0,
at a minimum, on a 4.0 grading scale, or equivalent.
FDIC’s Student
Educational Employment Program offers two components.
- The Student
Career Employment Program (SCEP) provides students with the
opportunity to obtain work experience that is directly
related to their education and career goals, with a possibility
of being converting to a competitive appointment within the
FDIC at the completion of the program. This program requires
a written
working agreement between the student, school and FDIC.
- The Student
Employment Program (STEP) offers internships that do not
need to be related
to a student’s academic or career
pursuits, but do not offer conversion to a competitive appointment.
Both programs
offer a year-round program and appointments may be made at
any time during the year. Proof of enrollment status in an
accredited educational program, achievement, and
suitability related documents may be requested to determine eligibility
for the Student Educational Employment Program. Resumes will
be reviewed to ensure you meet the qualifications described above.
U.S. citizenship is required and all applicants will be subject
to a background investigation.
