T2 Education & Training

The FLC is committed to providing technology transfer professionals, researchers, and members of industry with the tools and services needed to further professional development. Below are several FLC resources to meet this goal.

FLC Technology Transfer Training DVD Set

The FLC has created this 11-DVD, 3-CD set containing 14 video courses covering a variety of technology transfer topics presented by subject-matter experts from industry and government.

Technology Transfer Training Resource Database

The revised and updated Technology Transfer Training Resource Database (T2 TRDB) provides current information about a wide variety of education and training resources that are available to federal laboratory personnel and other practitioners of technology transfer. These resources include formal and informal training, conferences and meetings, workshops and seminars, classroom and online courses, undergraduate and graduate programs, and many other education and training venues offered by federal laboratories and agencies, technology transfer organizations, nonprofits, and colleges and universities.

Federal Technology Transfer Mechanisms Database

In order to facilitate the technology transfer efforts of the various federal laboratories, the Education and Training Committee of the FLC has developed this reference tool, which identifies a cross-section of technology transfer mechanisms used by federal agencies. The database identifies a wide variety of mechanisms, the agencies that use them, and links to agency websites where information about each agency's use of the mechanism and samples of mechanisms can be found.

Technology Transfer Mechanisms

A major initiative of the FLC Education and Training (E&T) Committee is to provide technology transfer practitioners with useful information regarding the wide variety of technology transfer mechanisms used by federal agencies.

FLC Technology Transfer Training Video Presentations

These presentations were among those made at the 2005 Midwest Regional meeting on August 9-11, 2005. Topics include intellectual property, CRADAs, and harvesting the value of innovation.

FLC Technology Transfer Desk Reference

The FLC Technology Transfer Desk Reference provides a comprehensive introduction to technology transfer and the background, concepts, and practical knowledge required for technology transfer practitioners, whether in government or industry, to facilitate the transfer of federally funded technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace. The Desk Reference includes the following topics: technology transfer overview, including technology transfer procedures, history, strategies, organizations, and mechanisms; the role of the FLC in technology transfer; Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs); and intellectual property issues.

Federal Technology Transfer Legislation and Policy

Federal Technology Transfer Legislation and Policy, more commonly known as "The Green Book," provides the principal statutory and presidential executive order policies that constitute the framework of the federal technology transfer program. This third edition of the Green Book is intended to assist policy makers and technology transfer practitioners in the government by serving as a legal reference resource. It is also intended to help those outside the government acquire a fundamental understanding of the legal framework for technology transfer.

FLC ORTA Handbook

The FLC ORTA Handbook provides a wealth of information about the Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA) and the most prominent issues regarding technology transfer, including an overview of the ORTA's functions, the technology transfer process, technology transfer mechanisms, T2 organizations, intellectual property rights, and the legal basis for the ORTA.
