Interactive Nights Out 2 (INO)Interactive Nights Out 2 (INO) is a virtual-experience CD-ROM set that helps youth make smart choices about alcohol and other drugs. Players, individually or in groups, become lead characters in full screen, full motion interactive movies. They go to parties, meet new people, take road trips, address family and peer relationships and make decisions about alcohol and other drugs. Depending on their choices, they either have the time of their lives, or watch their nights turn into disaster. INO keeps track of users' alcohol and drug consumption and demonstrates its effects on judgment. INO tackles a wide spectrum of real-life situations. Peer advisers try to influence the players, who learn by experiencing the consequences of their decisions. The program can be played repeatedly, and offers more than 40 outcomes. The program also includes quizzes, a list of resources about drug-related subjects, and a keyword-encyclopedia with 35 topics. Several of the encyclopedia topics feature public-service announcements from the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. INO is the genesis of 21st century health education. INO is a new, patented, instructional design that is fun, engaging, easy to use, and proven effective. It is compatible with both PC and MAC. INO provides a branching storyline that attracts youth to play and facilitates discussion. INO captures the attention of even hard-to-reach youth and is a powerful decisionmaking training tool. Portrayals increase players' knowledge of substance-abuse risks, show the relationship between substance abuse and social isolation, and make many powerful learning points. INO is also available as a video arcade kiosk. The Technology Games will begin at 6:30
