March 18-20, 1999

National Guideline Clearinghouse

National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), an exciting new free Web-based resource for health professionals, went live on the Internet on December 15, 1998 at http://www.guideline.gov. Sponsored by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR), in partnership with the American Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans, NGC is designed to promote quality health care by making  the latest evidence-based clinical practice guidelines available, in one easy-to-access location. NGC is a rapidly growing database containing structured standardized abstracts of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, full text of the guidelines or ordering information, and a utility for comparing guidelines. The site has 10 to 50 new guidelines added weekly. In addition to its 24-hour access on the Internet, the utility of the NGC is underscored by its useful features: standardized abstracts containing information about each guideline and how it was developed; a utility that allows guideline comparisons; access to the full text of guidelines or ordering information; the ability to browse for guideline titles by organization, disease/condition, or treatment/intervention; simple or detailed searching capability.

The Technology Games will begin at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 18 and end
Saturday, March 20 at 10:45 a.m.
