97-32 SEC ANNOUNCES SEVENTH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE Washington, D.C., April 11, 1997 -- On Monday, April 14, 1997, the Securities and Exchange Commission will host the Seventh Annual International Institute for Securities Market Development. The two-week, executive level Institute is the cornerstone of the SEC's international technical assistance program. The Institute features panels and workshops conducted by SEC staff and officials from the securities industry, the private bar, and international development organizations. The Institute audience will include approximately 103 senior securities regulators and securities market officials from 67 emerging market countries. The past six Institutes have provided training for more than 550 officials from five continents. A list of countries that plan to send representatives to this year's Institute is attached. The program will commence at 9:30 a.m. on April 14 with welcoming remarks by SEC Commissioner Isaac C. Hunt, Jr. Commissioner Hunt will be followed by a keynote address at 9:45 a.m. by the Gary L. Perlin, Vice President and Treasurer of The World Bank.
