CSCOR partners with the National Science Foundation to support the Global Ocean Ecosystems Dynamics program (GLOBEC), a component of the US Global Change Research Program. The goal of the GLOBEC Northwest Atlantic program is to understand the population dynamics of key species in Georges Bank - cod, haddock, and two species of zooplankton (Calanus finmarchicus and Pseudocalanus) and to be able to predict changes in the distribution and abundance of these species as a result of changes in their physical and biotic environment. The program also anticipates how their populations might respond to climate variability and change. For more information contact Elizabeth.Turner@noaa.gov.
