Statement By Secretary Bodman on Administering the Oath of Office to Steve Isakowitz as Chief Financial Officer

WASHINGTON, DC – Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman administered the Oath of Office to Steven Jeffrey Isakowitz to be the Department of Energy's (DOE) Chief Financial Officer, late Friday afternoon.  Mr. Isakowitz was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on May 25, 2007.  President Bush nominated Mr. Isakowitz for the position on February 8, 2007.  As Chief Financial Officer, Steve is tasked with the role of administering the Department's $24 billion budget and leading the implementation of the Department's loan guarantee program which supports novel clean energy technologies.  Mr. Isakowitz also has responsibility for the Department’s financial management, budget formulation and execution, program analysis and evaluation, and corporate information systems.

Mr. Isakowitz is an aerospace engineer and has held positions in policy, finance, program management, and engineering at the Office of Management and Budget, NASA, and the CIA and in the private sector.

Secretary Bodman issued the following statement after the administering the Oath on Friday:

“I am pleased to swear in Steve Isakowitz as the Department's Chief Financial Officer.  Steve is highly regarded and will continue the Department's efforts to assure the financial management and integrity of our programs that are advancing the President's scientific, energy and national security goals.  I congratulate Steve, who is a fellow graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, on his swearing in and look forward to his service to the Department and to the nation."

"I would also like to thank Jim Campbell, who has served as Acting CFO for the past year.  Jim has been an important member of the Department's senior team and I am grateful for his leadership during this time."
