Art of Change
"Put Your Change Where It Can Make One"Panhandling has become a chronic problem in our community, particularly in the popular downtown, riverfront and north shore districts. The call for a solution has demanded a creative and positive response. Depositing your spare change into the special “Art of Change” meters provides a better way to help. All of the proceeds will be directed to agencies that provide comprehensive services for those who are truly in need. For more specific information on the Art of Change program, click on the links below: Understanding the Panhandling Issue – An open letter from the Mayor Art of Change Education Brochure Sponsor a Meter – Art of Change meters can be sponsored by companies, organizations or individuals as a way of showing support for a more effective way to help those in our community who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The $500 meter sponsorship goes directly to the fund which provides small grants to agencies that provide services to our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Deposit your change to make a change – There are currently 20 meters located throughout the downtown and north shore areas. Click here for Art of Change meter locations. Applying for Art of Change Funds The Art of Change program has funds available as a result of meter sponsors and change deposited into the Art of Change meters which will, in turn, be used to help those in our community who are in real need. The City of Chattanooga has partnered with United Way of Chattanooga to accept proposals from Chattanooga area non-profit organizations which provide services and assistance to homeless persons or are at risk of becoming homeless.
