The mission of the Office of Self Sufficiency Food Assistance Program is to provide a basic level of nutritional well being for eligible low-income families and individuals. The Food Assistance Progam provides food assistance benefits in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services (USDA FNS), County Departments of Social Services, and authorized food retailers. County Departments of Social Services certify eligible applicants for food assistance benefits and issue an electronic benefit transfer system card that can be used to purchase food products at autorized food retailers. Individuals who want food assistance benefits should contact the local department of social services.
