Virginia

Provides early intervention supports and services to infants and toddlers from birth through age two who are not developing as expected or who have a medical condition that can delay normal development. Early intervention supports and services focus on increasing the child's participation in family and community activities that are important to the family.

Advises SSA customers in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia on how they may contact their local office and how they may obtain information on Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

In partnership with people with disabilities and their families, the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services collaborates with the public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and full inclusion into society.

Processes disability claims for benefits under the Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income Disability Programs.

A Medicaid program for children up to the age of 21 through which health care problems are identified and treated early through regular medical, dental, vision and hearing check-ups.

Helps with disability-related problems like abuse, neglect and discrimination. VOPA also helps people with disabilities obtain services and treatment.

If you receive disability benefits from the Social Security Administration and are interested in working or learning more about how working would affect your benefits, you can get help from a community organization known as a Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) project.

Helps low-income people and families buy the food they need for good health. You can apply for benefits by completing a state application form. Application is in .pdf format.
