Small businesses

a large portion of proposals received by ATP
- Small businesses submit three out of four proposals (5,454
out of 6,924 submitted since 1990).
Small businesses are the majority of ATP award recipients
(66%) 2
- Nearly two out of three awards go to small businesses (508
of 768 awards to date), totaling $1,202 million in ATP support
that is cost-shared by the private sector.
- 433 awards ($796 million in ATP funding) are to small businesses,
single company projects.
- 75 awards ($402 million in ATP funding) are to joint
venture projects that are led by small businesses.
- 24 of the 32 awards (75%) made in September 2004 were led
by a small business.
Three out of four of the 768 projects funded to date involve at
least one small business as a participant.
- A total of 739 small businesses participate directly in
ATP projects as members of single company projects and of
joint venture projects and hundreds more participate as subcontractors.
Small businesses, located across 42 states, participate in ATP
projects.
- The majority of small business participants are located
in the following states: California, Massachusetts, Michigan,
New York, Texas, and Ohio.
