The Council's publications represent the organization's continued effort to enhance the quality of care provided by caregivers. These publications share knowledge and experience related to good early childhood care and education. They are widely used in CDA training programs and entry-level early childhood courses.
Essentials for Child Development Associates, 2nd Edition
For over a decade, Essentials has served as a basic textbook for the formal training requirement for CDA Candidates throughout the country. The revised edition reflects current research and new trends in early childhood education. It lists new resources available for early childhood professionals and promotes use of the Internet with its vast wealth of information and support.

CDA Competency Standards Books
All CDA Assessment Application Packets include the matching competency standards for each age group or setting. However, these competency standards are available as stand alone documents for individuals and trainers who may not need the entire application packet.
