Developing, critically evaluating, and applying techniques for measurement of DNA damage and DNA repair, the characterization of DNA including mutation detection and genetic toxicology, and human identity profiling.
Bioprocess Measurements

Biospectroscopy

Developing measurement methods, databases, and generic technologies related to biomolecules and biomaterials in manufacturing.
Structural Biology

Developing and applying measurement methods, databases, and state-of-the-art modeling methods to advance the understanding of protein structure/function relationships.

Cell & Tissue Measurements

Developing, critically evaluating, and applying techniques for measurement of cell and tissue biological sciences for the biotech/pharmaceutical industry by developing advanced measurement tools, data and standards applied to the fields of Quantitative Cell Biology, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, and Gene Expression.


 

About Biochemical Science Division

The Biochemical Science Division, part of NIST’s, Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory. The Division serves as the Nation’s reference laboratory for providing the measurements, standards, and data needed to enhance U.S. industry’s productivity and competitiveness, assure equity in trade, foster innovation, improve public health, and provide quality assurance for measurements used in advancing the commercialization of biotechnology.
