The DEP International Programs serve as the interface between the International Atomic Energy Agency, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), and the academic community. These programs provide opportunities for U.S. citizens and international participants interested in contributing to international peace and development. International Programs is divided into four parts: Training Courses, Fellowships, Careers, and the International Nuclear Technology Liaison Office.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an international organization, committed to promoting safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear technology to contribute to international peace and promote sustainable development. IAEA programs have enabled over 100 developing Member States utilize nuclear technology to overcome challenges such as water scarcity, food insecurity, malnutrition, malaria, and environmental degradation.

IAEA TRAINING COURSES

Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) has actively supported the transfer of peaceful applications of nuclear technology on an international scale throughout its existence. ANL established its first international training activities shortly after the Laboratory was founded in 1946. These activities were a part of the Eisenhower Atoms for Peace Program and were organized and administered under the International School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, which eventually became the Division of Educational Programs (DEP). more...

IAEA FELLOWSHIPS

Since April 2003, the Division of Educational Programs at Argonne National Laboratory (DEP-ANL), under funding of the U.S. Government, has administered the program for the IAEA Fellows who receive awards for training in the United States. A major responsibility of DEP-ANL is arranging suitable study or training programs for the Fellowship candidates. Such arrangements are possible only with the cooperation of colleges and universities, hospitals, private corporations and governmental agencies. more...
