AMES LABORATORY SCIENTISTS TO APPEAR
ON WOI RADIO’S “TALK OF IOWA” PROGRAM
Show to Focus on Ames Laboratory’s Efforts in Bio-inspired Technology
AMES, Iowa – Two U.S. Department of Energy Ames Laboratory scientists will appear on WOI-AM radio’s “Talk of Iowa” on Thursday, July 19, 2007, from 11 a.m. to noon. Hosted by Katherine Perkins, the show will focus on the use of nanotechnology in plant biology and agricultural biotechnology and the use of Raman imaging to probe plant cell structure to determine which crops are the best for producing ethanol.
Appearing on “Talk of Iowa” will be:
- Dr. Victor Lin, associate director, Ames Laboratory Chemical and Biological Sciences Program and director of the Iowa State University Center for Catalysis
- Dr. Emily Smith, Ames Laboratory analytical chemist and assistant professor in the Iowa State University Department of Chemistry
Ames Laboratory, celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2007, is operated for the Department of Energy by Iowa State University. The Lab conducts research into various areas of national concern, including the synthesis and study of new materials, energy resources, high-speed computer design, and environmental cleanup and restoration.
