GRAMMY AWARD WINNER LEE GREENWOOD TO APPEAR AT FIRST FLIGHT CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
Two Performances Scheduled During Historic Celebration

Kill Devil Hills, NC
October 17, 2003

Event planners for the First Flight Centennial Celebration today announced that multi-platinum entertainer Lee Greenwood has been added to the slate of acts set to perform during the December event.

"We are thrilled to add a performer of this caliber to the entertainment line-up for the celebration," said Lawrence A. Belli, superintendent, Outer Banks Group, National Parks Service. "Much like the Wright brothers, Greenwood's career is an example of the American dream - through perseverance comes success. His music will provide a perfect addition to the educational and historic activities and exhibits at the park."

Greenwood, best known for his spectacular hit "God Bless the U.S.A.," will headline entertainment on December 16 on the Main Stage at 1 p.m. Themed "In History's Footsteps: Celebrating 100 Aviation Pioneers," the day's programming will feature exhibits and activities honoring pioneers and innovators who have made a significant mark in aviation history. Activities include a ceremony to honor the 100 aviation heroes, as selected by the First Flight Centennial Commission, as well as educational and historic exhibits. Greenwood also will perform his signature hit during the North Carolina First Flight Centennial Commemoration Program to be held December 17 at 9:00 a.m.

Greenwood's career has spanned more than 20 years, marked by awards such as the Country Music Association's Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year. He was one of the most in-demand performers following the Gulf War and is renowned for his support for the military and veterans.

Greenwood joins the line-up of big-name Main Stage entertainment for the First Flight Centennial Celebration that includes The Beach Boys (December 13); The Temptations (December 14); and country music singer Aaron Tippin (December 15).

The First Flight Centennial Celebration will begin on December 12. The six-day event is designed to commemorate the last century of flight; celebrate the achievements of aviators throughout history; and inspire the next generation of aviators to further the Wright brothers' dream.

General admission tickets for December 13-16, 2003 are still available at http://www.wrightbrothers.reserveworld.com or by calling 1-800-973-7327. Tickets for December 17 have sold out. Children 12 and under are free but must have a ticket to be admitted. December 12 is a non-ticketed day.
