Chairman Johnson to Testify on Credit Union Charter ConversionsApril 5, 2006, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration Chairman JoAnn Johnson will testify on “H.R. 3206, Credit Union Charter Choice Act” and the issue of credit union charter conversions in general before the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. The hearing is set for Thursday, May 11 at 10 a.m. in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of nearly 85 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
