Brief Description: THE COTTONWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS INITIATED THIS OUTSTANDING DISASTER TRAINING IN THE VERDE VALLEY. THE PUBLIC RESPONSE HAS BEEN FANTASTIC. Brief Description: The "PCC" CERT was the first team organized in Yavapai County. They have 36 members, 4 that have completed the CERT "Train-the-Trainer" curriculum. The team has had significant training beyond CERT including: traffic control, CPR/First Aid, HAZMAT orientation, WMD/Terrorism orientation and have completed FEMA IS2 "Preparedness USA".

Organization (contact our office for a copy of the chart) The functions within our program will follow the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS) organizational components under Operations, as well as following the mandates set forth by the Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP) and Department of Homeland Security. (DHS) County CERT Committee (Participating Jurisdictions within the Pima County); Program Manager (Pima County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security); Council Representative (Citizen Corp Council or Jurisdiction); Coordinator (Agencies, Business, etc.); Training (20-Hour Program); Technician (Citizen), Team (Group), Tier (Continued Education), Instruction (Instructor Trainer, Train-the-Trainer, Volunteer Instructor); Tracking (Volunteer Management). County CERT Committee Consists of individuals representing each participating jurisdiction within Pima County to include the City of South Tucson, the City of Tucson, The Town of Marana, the Town of Sahuarita, the Town of Oro Valley, and areas within Pima County are Avra Valley, Ajo, Catalina, Green Valley, Robles Junction, Summer haven and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, the Tohono O� odham Nation. This Committee will be convened separately from the individual Citizen Corps Councils and will focus on �Best Practices� for the County CERT program. If a Jurisdiction wishes not to participate in the County CERT Committee, it may forward their requests directly to the Program Manager. PROGRAM MANAGER The program manager is a representative of the Pima County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security. This person will manage requests from the Coordinators, organize presentations and maintain the integrity of the CERT program within the county. This person shall mediate any disputes between any of the entities of this program. The program manager is responsible for submitting reports and financial records to Arizona Division of Emergency Management. CERT COUNCIL/COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE Each Citizen Corp Council or jurisdiction within the County furnishes the Program Manager with the name of a person to act as his or her representative. These persons will have the authorization to decide on Finances, Logistics, Planning, and Operations within the County CERT program. COORDINATOR A CERT coordinator may be a representative of a public or private organization within a geographical area. A coordinator should have the ability to coordinate and conduct a minimum of 2 training classes a year. The Coordinator will be required to document all training and coordinate the instruction. Brief Description: The Dasiy Mountain Fire Department is located in a rapidly growing area north of Phoenix. This area includes Anthem, Desert Hills and New River, which encompasses both urban and rural communities covering approximately 100 square miles. We began offering CERT training in April 2004. Our program utilizes a multi level system of involvement, and training. Our objective is to train Community Members to take care of themselves, and their families, and their neighborhood. A business meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We have deployed our CERT to assist with evacuations caused by wildland fire,to assist with hurricane Katrina evacuees who were relocated to the Phoenix area, and to provide hospitality services for investigators who spent several days on a scene.

Brief Description: We graduated our first CERT class on March 23, 2004. The fourteen current CERT members have already started the planning phase of a continued CERT response program. To date, the Fry Fire District has six more classes scheduled. Including classes in Benson and Douglas.

Brief Description: The Coconino County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with the Flagstaff Police Department have trained approximately 45 CERT members in our community. The program was begun in late 2002 and initally focused on Search and Rescue members of the Sheriff's Office. The program has now expanded to the general public and has met with great responce.

Brief Description: The Payson area CERT program has grown in the past two years. We have been activated for various functions. We have stood road blocks at wild fire borders. We have also filled and placed sand bags during the flooding of a nearby river. This last year we hosted a regional train the trainer class and also taught two CERT classes here in town. Our goals for the next year include more drills, and trying to get various teams organized for specialized assignments. We also plan to expand training to out lying communities.

Brief Description: The Mohave County CERT Program was established in the State of Arizona in the Spring of 1997. The communities of Mohave Valley, Golden Shores, Fort Mojave Tribe, Lake Havasu City, and the City of Kingman all have local teams that meet monthly to train and work with other local emergency officials in disaster management projects. Mohave County is proud to have been the first community in the State to utilize its CERT volunteers in emergency response activities over the last ten years. In addition to the basic FEMA CERT Training, Mohave County CERT members are given additional background training in emergency sheltering, mass decontamination, Emergency Operation Center support, and damage assessment activities.
