Abstract:

This working paper presents findings on Critical Access Hospitals (CAH’s) and the progress being made with Quality Improvement (QI) Initiative programs. It discusses the efforts and development of QI Initiative programs, associated challenges of implementing these programs, and the potential benefits they provide to CAH’s. The paper includes findings from a telephone survey conducted with 72 CAH’s and cites comments made by two facilities that currently use QI Initiative programs. It also includes tables and references.
